Now that's a frown

Gordon commented on his frown in another photo (I could tell he was smiling!).

This was our first (and only) formal family portrait. For some reason.

thinking back, it was annoying to wait for so darn long to take the picture... wasn't it a free or super cheap picture or something?

I think, from more recent conversations, Mom had a $10 coupon for the one picture... so yes, it was super cheap.

Yep, we waited a long time and it WAS annoying. I seem to recall there was a family ahead of us with their dog, for gosh sakes! But after everybody went through getting all dressed up, I didn't just want to walk out. And had we done so, we wouldn't have a picture at all.

The reality is, I wouldn't remember the whole thing nearly so well if your dad had smiled, so I guess I should thank him. It also made it REALLY easy to resist buying additional copies. At the time I wondered why he decided to spoil the picture, though. I'm sure he was mad at me for dragging him there.

And all I could afford at that time was a cheap portrait. It was the best I could do.
